Ericka and Renli visit with Felix during Christmas break. (2008).

4/11/08 TIRR:

Next Wednesday 16th, Felix will return home after spending 6 weeks here at TIRR.  Felix's stay here at TIRR has been beneficial; he can now remain seated on his own, he is moving his legs, and he is recognizing now familiar faces.  He is also emitting sounds to communicate.  We believe that he has  improved.

We thank you for all your prays and calls.   Feel free to come home and visit with him after wednesday

3/16/08 TIRR:

Felix has been recovering at the TIRR (Texas Institute of Rehabilitation and Recovery) since March 6th, and will continue for a couple more.  If you would like to visit him, he is on the 3rd floor.  I will keep you updated to what he has been up to at the hospital...

2/16/08 Home:

We are waiting for TIRR to give the "go-ahead" to Felix so he can get back to intense therapy.  Felix has been visited by many friends.  Thanks for Viet and Danny for the awesome haircut they gave Felix.  Million thanks to Ericka and Amanda Segura for spending time with Felix on the weekends.

Felix is showing progress, he is recognizing friends and smiling and laughing with them.  He is very attentive to their conversations.

1/30/08 Home:

Felix underwent a succesful brain surgery known as VP (ventricular/peritoneal) Shunt.  The surgery was done at St. Luke Hosp.  Felix is now at home recovering.

1/16/08 Home

Felix had a pretty busy end of the year.  He visited several houses and attended all the Christmas and New Year's Celebration.

It has been 2 months after his succesful urethroplasty and everything is back in order in that department.  Felix is schedule to have another delicate surgery, on January 26th at St Luke Hosp.

Felix's recovery is steadily improving, he has been smiling a lot and when he really enjoys something, he laughs out loud.

Inmediately after his surgery, he will continue attending (in-patient) the TIRR (Rehab) for at least a couple of weeks.

Felix has benefited from visits from his friends, and for that we are eternally grateful.

Felix will undergo two surgeries this month.  Will keep you posted

2/14/07 Home

Felix is back at home after spending a couple of weeks of intense therapies and assessments.  He will be going back to TIRR as an outpatient as soon as the insurance's red tape is worked out.   Felix had his vision checked, and a new pair of glasses were ordered.  During his stay at there, Felix was lifted to a standing position momentarily by the nurses at TIRR, that was pretty amazing; I had forgotten how tall he is, Fe is always either in his wheelchair or in bed, so to look at him standing, was an amazing sight. Felix received musical therapy, speech therapy and of course, muscular therapy.  We are very please with all the work he had done at TIRR, but so much more is needed.  We are hoping that have him back there ASAP.  When Felix re-enters TIRR, he will undergo 10 weeks more of rehabilitation.  Thank you TIRR.

1/22/07 TIRR

Felix had an extremely busy and exhausting day at TIRR.  Felix was visited by the Physical, vocational, and music therapist.  He had his foley's catheter removed (permanent), he had his feeding tube replaced, had moldings created for the reshaping of his lower joints.  Felix also had a swallowing test and spent a great deal of time doing therapy.  Tomorrow is also schedule with several activities and more testing and therapy.  I will let you know later how everything went.

1/17/07 TIRR

Finally! Felix is undergoing therapy and treatment at Texas Institute of Rehabilitation.

Felix was admitted this morning to TIRR and will spend the next 15 days there.  From the moment he rolled in the hospital, he underwent a battery of different assessments.  I will inform you about visiting hours and all other information needed in order to visit him.  For starters, here is the address: 5100 Travis. Houston, TX 77002-9746. Phone number: (713) 942-6159.

Once again, we like to thank everybody who has called, visit or e-mailed wanting to know about Felix's progress.  God bless.
